I cannot recommend the Lodge 5 Qt. Combo Cooker or the Lodge 5qt Dutch Oven as the diameter is too small and the uncoated rough interior can cause wear on the mat which can shorten its longevity. If you already own one of these, I recommend purchasing the Lodge 3.2 Qt. Combo Cooker and using the base of that (which perfectly fits The BreadMat) with the deeper side of the Combo Cooker or Dutch Oven as a lid.

Description

The BreadMat™ is a reusable parchment paper replacement. It is shaped to fit the majority of popular baking vessels.

Strong handles make moving bread in and out of a hot oven easier and safer than using parchment.

The unique patented design enhances heat distribution, evening color and reducing burns.

It is made from LFGB platinum food-safe silicone and is rated to 500F.

The BreadMat will reduce dark spots and encourage even baking on the bottom of your loaf, but if it still too dark after using The BreadMat, it is recommended to place a heavy baking sheet on the bottom rack of your oven to act as a heat shield to further reduce darkening and to protect your BreadMat from excessive heat.

    Wow, absolutely love my new Breadmats. I use both a cloche baker and a size 26 Le Creuset dutch oven to bake my bread in. The Breadmat works perfect in the cloche but the handles are a wee short in the dutch oven. It’s easy enough though to just lift them away from the sides of the pot with a fork, grab them and lift out. Would buy again in a heartbeat, especially since I’ll be saving so much on parchment!

    My new favorite baking tool! I saw this mentioned on a sourdough blog and had to try it. Parchment worked okay, but took a sheet per loaf and left wrinkles in the side of my boules. Also, I never really trust wet parchment. I’ve used this mat a few times now and it is perfect. The ideal size for baking in a dutch oven and getting the loaf in and out without screwing it up of getting burned. Loved it enough I immediately sent a pair to a good friend.

    Used it for the first time yesterday and it was the most amazing tool in my cupboard for sourdough baking. I made a cinnamon raisin sourdough boule and some of thee filling leaked out. Normally, this would have been a mess to clean out of the cast iron dutch oven, but the bread mat lifted right out and the boule slipped off onto the cooling rack. I will never bake without the bread mat under a loaf. Thanks so much for this innovative product.
